Studio City Realtor Nicole Costas recommends…
Footbridge Square in Studio City is a lovely old oak tree lined neighborhood bounded by Moorpark to the north, Whitsett to the west, Laurel Canyon to the east, and Ventura Blvd. to the south. The area—which really is square-shaped—shares a similar history and architecture with Colfax Meadows, but without any large lots or large homes.
Footbridge Square takes its name from the footbridge that crosses the L.A. River at Laurelgrove Avenue and Valleyheart Drive, which gives pedestrians easy access to the best shopping and dining in Studio City on Ventura Boulevard, just south across the river. The footbridge also provides access to a 1.9 mile walking path along the L.A. River channel, a wonderful place to jog, run, walk the dog, take an evening stroll, or access the two new parks along the river. Each small, linear park showcases a slightly different approach to the revitalization of the Los Angeles River. And though the river channel is concrete, it's still a great place to check out the native plants, public art, river rock walls, ramps, and shaded benches on the two parks.
Footbridge is a truly "neighborly" neighborhood, with an annual 4th of July parade—which starts at Footbridge Square—that has been bringing families (and their pets) together for over 40 years. The Footbridge Square parade kicks off at Valley Spring Lane and St. Claire Avenue. Neighborhood residents also host an annual pancake breakfast and a barbecue grill potluck, another tradition that has endured for over four decades.
